The 20-year-old scored the only goal in the Bird's Nest Stadium in
Beijing to secure Argentina's second consecutive Olympic gold medal
against Nigeria.
Since his strong showing in the far-east, Di Maria has been linked with a number of clubs across the continent. He is currently contracted to Benfica in Portugal, but has admitted that he is ready to quit the giants in favour of a lucrative move.
Arsenal, Real Madrid and Internazionale all expressed interest in the front-runner during his days at Rosario Central in his homeland before his decision to join Benfica.
His latest declaration may, once again, spark a clamour for his signature. After just one season at the Stadium of Light, he is ready to move on.
He told Record: “They [Benfica] told me that there had been clubs interested, but I do not know much about this,” said Di Maria in Record.
“I want to stay in Benfica until December, then we will see.”
Di Maria is in line for his first senior Argentina start this weekend in the cruch South American qualifier against Paraguay in Buenos Aires.
