Didier Drogba Pulls Out Of Ivory Coast's World Cup Qualifier
Top Drog out of qualifier...
The striker sustained the injury when he was kicked in the chest by Jonny Evans during the west London club's recent 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the hitman was struggling to move following the injury, but hoped that the Ivorian would be as fit as a fiddle in "a few days".
According to Reuters, Drogba did not return to his homeland to join his team-mates, instead choosing to remain in London owing to the injury. The former Olympique de Marseille forward is expected to return to the fold for a friendly clash against Germany next week.
Les Elephants have already qualified for the World Cup, and will play Guinea for academic purposes in Abidjan on Saturday.
