This news comes as a blow to the Hawks, whose crucial 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo boys of Zambia comes up in less than two weeks time.

According to reports monitored on BBC Sport, the Togolese Football Federation claims that the Frenchman departed the position due to a disagreement over his salary.

However, Stambouli has pointed out that his real reason for departing was the lack of proper training facilities provided for him by the TFF.

"The TFF has not co-operated in providing me with the necessary facilities to train the players and make other preparations for Togo for their 2010 qualifying matches," he said.

Assistant coach of the team, Kodjovi Mawuena will take charge of the team temporarily ahead of their game against Zambia.

The Togolese team are bottom of the three-team Group 11, but are only a point behind joint group leaders, Swaziland and Zambia, who are on four points.
