England took the lead when Steven Gerrard struck from 31 yards on the 11th minute but Belarus played their way back into the game. After the break though it was all England as they rose to see of the Minsk challenge and emerged 3-1 winners.

Zahvnov: 7.0 -
Aside from three superb goals he was there to palm and block.

Omelyanchuk: 6.5 -
Was not as busy as Belarus' other full back, but failed to follow Gerrard whenever he cut inside.

Filipenki: 7.5 -
Got forward and roamed around. Maintained a high line and organised the defence.

Verklovtsov: 6.5 -
Started well but once England extended their lead to two in the second half lost his urgency.

Molosh: 7.5 -

Was a threat going forward. Made himself known.

Kulchy: 6.5 -
Okay captain's performance.

Stasevich: 8.0 -
Assisted Sitko for Belarus' equaliser. Good football brain, maintained his nation's pass and move ethos.

Putsilo: 6.5 -
Could have been red carded for a lunge in the first half, but was only cautioned.

Sitko: 8.0 -
Rounded off a great team goal that included 23 passes.

Kutuzov: 7.0 -
Good passing and intelligent play.

Bulyga: 7.0 -
Roamed around the forward line looking to feed off his team-mates great passing and creation.

Made a number of fine saves in the first half.

Brown: 7.0 -
Clattered Belarus captain Kulchy. Was consistently robust in his challenges.

Ferdinand: 6.5 -
Two wins out of two for the stand-in England captain. Did well.

Upson: 7.0 -
Looked more composed on the ball than he did against Kazakhstand.

Bridge: 7.5 -
Got forward well and showed high energy rates. A worthy understudy for Ashley Cole, but could make the position his own.

Walcott: 7.0 -
Not as effective as he was while in an England shirt in the past, but his pace still posed problems for the Belarusian defence.

Lampard: 8.0 -
Great delivery from set play. Good passing. Put in a good performance.

Barry: 7.0 -
Played his role with minimum fuss. Snuffed out play. Anchored well.

Gerrard: 8.0 -
Great strike from Gerrard. Was criticised prior to kick off for disappearing in an England shirt, but made himself known in the 11th minute by cutting in from the left to find the net from 31 yards.

Heskey: 8.5 -
Fabio Capello has said he is the ideal partner for Rooney and it was easy to see why with this performance. Assisted Rooney and even made some darting runs down the left.

Rooney: 9.0 -
His brace against Belarus sees him top the goalscoring charts in the European section of the World Cup qualifiers. Two great goals, the second of which was an audacious dink.
