The Azzurri have a whirlwind week ahead of them as they clash with Bulgaria in Sofia on Saturday, and then it's back to Lecce for Montenegro next Wednesday, as their Group 8 South Africa 2010 qualifying group gets back into full swing.
Lippi excluded Cassano from the Giro Nazionale and he has come under heavy criticism for it despite the striker not living up to expectation in this early part of the campaign.
The coach has now responded and has given his reasons as to why he dropped the Talentino di Bari Vecchia.
"There is no particular problem with Cassano," Lippi said at the Azzurri press conference.
"I heard there were rumours about personal doubts but there is nothing in those. It's just a simple technical choice on my part. I want to see other players at the moment."
The 2006 World Cup winner also had a few words regarding Juventus. The Bianconeri have had a nightmare start to the new season but Lippi is adamant that his former club will bounce back and his words suggest support for Claudio Ranieri.
"It's something strange. When things go well, those who understand the game well say that only 20 percent of the responsibility lies with the coach," added Lippi.
"When things go wrong however, the coach is responsible for 120 percent of the woes.
"They [Juventus] have some great people at the club. I don't understand what's going on there but I am sure they will bounce back."
Italy will be hoping to continue their good showing in group 8. The Azzurri top their standings and they will take firm control if they win their next two fixtures.
