Austria Crash To Lithuania Defeat
Lithuania 2-0 Austria
Days after their highly impressive win over France, Austria crashed to a 2-0 loss away to Lithuania in Marijampole. Second half goals from Tomas Danilevicius sent Karel Brückner’s side to defeat and Hand Lithuania a 100% record.
Lithuania now have six points from a possible six after tonight’s 2-0 win over Austria. A win over Romania at the weekend was followed up with an equally impressive win over France’s recent conquerors Austria.
The first chance of the game fell to the home side on 11 minutes when Ksanavicius found himself through on goal following a Danilevicius pass. Manninger however denied him.
Austria on the other hand were largely reduced to shots from distance and found it difficult to reproduce the form they showed against France
A goalless first half was soon rectified seven minutes into the second half when Tomas Danilevicius opened the scoring. The goal was a rather fortunate affair but not undeserved.
Danilevicius put the ball past Alex Manninger in the Austrian goal after a free kick from team mate Stankevicius. Six minutes later the 30 year old Livorno forward scored his second of the game.
A deflected pass from Deividas Cesnauskis fell to him and he scored from close range. For Austria, they only really got themselves going with the introduction of Erwin Hoffer on 66 minutes.
