Chievo find themselves at the very bottom of the Serie A standings, having collected just six points from their opening twelve matches and already replaced their coach.
Domenico Di Carlo replaced Beppe Iachini, but the results have not been any better for the Flying Donkeys so far. However, the former Parma tactician believes Sunday's match at the Stadio Bentegodi could be an important one with regards to the relegation battle this season.
"I don't like that expression," he said, when asked if this match was the 'last resort' for Chievo. "However, it is an important game against a relegation contender. We have been preparing for it the whole week."
Chievo were unable to get on the scoresheet in their last two matches, but Di Carlo insists he saw improvements.
"It will take a great match to continue with the good signs we displayed against the prestigious sides of Juve and Milan," he said, according to Datasport. "However, it will also take a competitive attitude, something we don't always give."
Siena currently have 13 points, seven points ahead of Chievo and five above the relegation zone.
