Catania coach Walter Zenga could not believe his eyes with what he saw on the pitch during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Napoli.

In particular, Zenga was disappointed with the way the referee handled the game in certain key moments with many of the calls going against the Rossoazzurri.

“What do you want me to tell you, I’m happy about the performance of the team which is always improving, but bad things happen to us all,” complained the former Inter goalkeeper. “This time we found a referee who whistles before the 45th minute, even though the only watch which matters is his.

“On [Takayuki] Morimoto’s shot; I sincerely found it strange that a referee can interrupt such an action, with the attacker striking towards goal.

“Then for twenty minutes in the second half we never had a foul in our favour, and finally the electronic boards of the substitutions were not working when there were for the Napoli players.”

Following this defeat, Catania slipped down to 10th place in the standings, with 25 points from 18 games played.
