The Roman native has never played for the Biancocelesti, but used to support them from the Stadio Olimpico’s Curva Nord as a kid.
Siena are fresh from a stunning win over local rivals Fiorentina last weekend and comfortably lie in the middle of the table after ten rounds, with 12 points to their name.
“It was a great feeling to beat the Viola, I feel it was worth 6 points, three for our morale and three for the table,” Portanova told the Corriere dello Sport.
“We gave our fans a wonderful joy, and they deserved it after the unlucky defeat at San Siro.”
The Robur were edged out 2-1 by Milan a fortnight ago, after the Rossoneri were awarded a soft spot-kick.
“Now we take on Lazio who are the side I have always supported ever since I was little,” admitted the 30-year-old.
“I grew up in the Curva Nord and it is always such a special game for me. Coach Delio Rossi’s men are flying high at the moment and I would be really happy if they achieved something important this term. Why not the Scudetto?
“But I already know that after stepping onto the pitch, I will only focus on Siena.”
