Despite their surprise sixth place in the standings, the powers behind Genoa are not resting on their laurels as they continue to monitor the transfer market for some possible additions to their already talented squad.
The most recent name on the New Year wish list of president Enrico Preziosi is that of Pelè. The young midfielder moved from Inter to Porto in the summer, in the deal which saw Ricardo Quaresma move the other way. He is keen to move back to the peninsula to be closer to his model girlfriend, Deborah Salvalaggio.
The main stumbling block could prove to be his price tag, which is believed to be in the region of €6 million. Should this prove to be a step to far for the Rossoblu patron may have to settle for the more economical option of Simone Bentivoglio of Chievo.
With his intentions to keep a tight grip around Diego Milito and his efforts to scour the market for additions in January, Preziosi is sending a clear message that his Genoa side want to keep hold of their sixth place in the standings long into the New Year.
