Thiago Motta's career looked to be nearly finished due to a whole host of injuries in recent seasons, but the Brazilian midfielder has revived his floundering career at Genoa this year.
The 26-year-old is extremely pleased with the recent derby win over Sampdoria and pleased with the atmosphere that exists at Genoa.
"The three points against Sampdora were important for the league standings and for morale," suggested the ex-Barcelona player. "I was taken aback by the climate here at Genoa. At Barcelona, the public are much more detached. It is an honour to wear the shirt of Genoa."
Some fans and pundits believe that Thiago Motta and Omar Milanetto are too similar and hinder one another on the pitch, but Motta dismissed that idea.
"Milanetto has played further back and I more advanced," he explained. "For me, there are no problems of incompatibility between us. We can coexist and adapt so that we can both read the game better."
Both men are expected to be in the starting line-up when the Grifoni play Atalanta at the Marassi this weekend.
