The Spanish giants showed great interest in Serie A's top-scorer following the injury to Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Preziosi admits Real came knocking at the door but he has rejected their attempt for the Argentinean hit-man.

"Real Madrid came for Milito and there was contact with the Spanish club," Preziosi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"But, I responded to them and I simply said that Milito was our striker and that he wouldn't be leaving Genoa.

"Owen? There was never any contact. I don't understand how certain news comes about.

"We have Milito and our attacking line up is great. Maybe when Diego needs a rest we may return to the market to buy a young player with good prospects."

Genoa have been flying sky high in Serie A. Milito has hit 10 goals in 12 games for his side.

The Grifoni clash with Lazio on Sunday afternoon.
