Chopra To Cardiff 'Just A Loan'
According to a report in the British press, the deal which has seen Michael Chopra join Cardiff City from Sunderland is just a loan and nothing more...
Earlier this week, Sunderland striker Michael Chopra signed on loan for he club he left to join the Black Cats, Championship club Cardiff City.
According to speculation, Cardiff were keen to make the transfer permanent after the loan deal expires at the end of December but quotes from Cardiff manager Dave Jones and Sunderland manager Roy Keane seem to suggest that the deal is nothing more than a loan.
"This loan move to Cardiff is an opportunity for Chops to get some games," said Sunderland manager Roy Keane.
He continued: "It is an opportunity he wanted and has taken. He has been coming to me and asking for a chance and if I can’t guarantee them games here and there is a deal that is good for the player and the club then we will put it to them.
"Chops will get some games and I guarantee you he will get goals. We wish him well. He is just on loan."
While it seems that the deal might just be limited to a loan, Cardiff boss Dave Jones is hopeful that Chopra could be at Ninian Park after December 31 should they be allowed to extend the loan.
"Roy Keane does not want to sell Chops, but maybe we can get him for longer by extending the loan," Jones explained.
He added: "We are not thinking beyond the end of the current loan spell right now. If anything changes between now and then, we will react to that."
