The 24-year-old poacher has been linked with almost every major English, Spanish and Italian club over the past few months after yet another sensational season, which saw him net 36 times in 45 club outings.
However, when a Sky Sports News reporter asked Van Basten, under whom Huntelaar scored eight goals in his 13 Oranje appearances, whether they had received any offers for their star stiker the answer was rather surprising.
"No, and I hope that we don't receive them," he said, before admitting that trying to keep a top player in Holland for the long-term is almost as hopeless s fighting the sands of time.
"It's difficult to keep them," Van Basten added. "I think we have a good youth system, which is very important to Ajax, but it's been like this for the last 25 years.
"It's important to keep players for as long as possible, maybe with money, maybe with other promises.
"If they go after playing for five years in the first team of Ajax, that is OK. But now they are going at the age of 18 or 19 and that is too quick."
