Real Mallorca are a club in crisis at the moment and there seems to be
no doubt that the departure of president Vicente Grande had something
to do with on-the-pitch affairs, despite the main reason being off the
pitch.
The president left the island side yesterday, and speaking to Marca today, coach Gregorio Manzano, says that he now feels 'under suspicion' after the poor run of form, and is sad to see Grande leave.
"On Tuesday the president said his good-byes and it is something that saddened me," he declared.
"We have gone through unforgettable moments together and at one time I told him that above everything else, we had to be prepared for when tough moments came.
"Now it is one of those moments and I feel that for me not to be next, we have to take opportune and brave decisions. He knows that the team and the staff have always been by his side and his leaving saddens us, we all think he deserved better."
The main problem off the pitch has been the failure to sell the club, which has resulted in financial trouble, whilst on it, they have suffered and now find themselves in the relegation zone.
With just two teams separating them from bottom spot, Manzano knows they are in a crisis at the moment.
"After drawing at home against Athletic Bilbao the team has gone on a bad run of results that has produced insufficient points and now we are in the lower part of the table," he mused.
