Paris Saint-Germain a class above in Ligue 1, admits Gignac
The Frenchman concedes that Carlo Ancelotti's men hold a significant edge over their domestic rivals, while Rod Fanni and Samuel Umtiti also had their say on the weekend's bout
Andre-Pierre Gignac has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are a "class above" in Ligue 1 as his Olympique de Marseille side prepare to face Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday.
The Parisians, backed by a Qatari benefactor, currently lead the French standings by two points, but while the former Toulouse striker believes this has given them a significant advantage, their recent loss to Reims has blown the title race wide open.
The Stade Velodrome outfit crashed to a 4-1 defeat on home soil in November, and Gignac told Marseille's official website: "We will travel there to get a good result and make amends for the first game.
"PSG are a class above but they lost at Reims last weekend so anything is possible."
Rod Fanni, meanwhile, spoke of how Marseille should use their top-of-the-table clash with les Dogues as a statement of intent to their league rivals."Lyon are a direct rival for the title. This game is an opportunity to send a message to the teams who are chasing us," the defender added.
However, Lyon stopper Samuel Umititi played down the impact of the tussle at Stade Gerland, claiming that it would be premature to look at the table with still over two months of the season left to run.
"It's too soon to look at the standings," the youngster told Lyon's official website. "There are a lot of matches left, nothing will be done for second place after this game."
