Brian Kennedy confirms Rangers bid rumours
The businessman has hit out at the club's administrators, after an £11 million joint bid with the Blue Knights was withdrawn, claiming that confidential information was leaked
Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy has confirmed reports which suggested that he was preparing a bid to become the majority shareholder in Rangers.
In a public statement, Kennedy, who was part of the Blue Knights consortium aiming to take control of the club back in May, also suggested that details of meetings and news of his written offer had been leaked by the club.
Kennedy had previously stated that he would be the “last man standing” in the takeover saga, which was later won by Charles Green’s Sevco.
The statement read: "I have recently had several confidential meetings with a gentleman representing the shareholders of Sevco, with regards to my interest in purchasing a majority shareholding in Rangers Football Club.
"The details of these meetings and the written offer I have submitted have been disclosed from within the club.
"Now that this has leaked I have I have no alternative but to confirm that what is reported in the Daily Record regarding such matters is accurate.
"I have no further comment to make at this time."
