The former Middlesbrough boss joined Twente for a second spell last season, finishing the campaign in sixth place.
McClaren is current in the midst of his preparations for the new season with a Europa League qualifier in just two weeks’ time.
“We have to be ready for next season. We play our first game in the Europa League in two weeks,” he told Voetbal International:
“This summer, our goal is to reach the group stage of the Europa League."
McClaren first joined Twente back in 2008 following his dismissal from the England job after failing to qualify for Euro 2008.
And he went on to win the club their first Eredivisie title before moving to Wolfsburg in 2010.
And now McClaren plans to get the side back to the top of Dutch football, with a top-four finish the aim in his first full season back in charge.
He added: “That season is a motivation for us to start well with the new season. We want to return in the Dutch top four. We have to be stable."
