Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba thinks that loanee Joe Cole is eager to earn a permanent move to the Ligue 1 club.
The Englishman joined Lille on a season-long lean deal in the summer after a disappointing campaign at Liverpool.
Cole has been a first-team regular for the Ligue 1 champions and Mavuba believes that the former Chelsea attacker wants to prolong his stay beyond the end of the season.
"I think Joe [Cole] really wants to stay because he takes pleasure playing for this team," Mavuba told RTL.
"Now it is up to the board to work it out with him."
The 27-year-old then noted that it will be hard for Lille to hold on to Eden Hazard and admitted that the loss of the Belgian attacker would be a heavy setback for his side.
"Eden [Hazard] has been here for several years and, yes, we feel that this is his last season," Mavuba explained.
"You cannot replace players like that. If we lose these two players [Hazard and Joe Cole] it could be complicated."
