Reigning Belgian champions Anderlecht have successfully concluded contract negotiations with experienced defender Marcin Wasilewski. The 30-year-old defender has signed a new contract with Paars-Wit until the summer of 2013.
"It's very important for the club that Marcin has signed a new deal with Anderlecht. He's fought an extremely tough battle and his contract extension is an example of the warmth of this club. He deserves a lot of respect for the way he has fought back after the injury and he wall always be a part of the Anderlecht family," commented sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck on the club's website.
Wasilewski joined Anderlecht from Lech Poznan in January 2007 and has since made close to 100 official appearances for the Brussels side. He spent the majority of 2010 on the sidelines due to a complicated leg fracture.
"I'm very pleased to have signed a new contract with Anderlecht. The club has always supported me during my injury woes. I'd also like to use this opportunity to thank the fans for all their support. I'm proud to be part of this club," said Wasilewski.
