Wales Captain Craig Bellamy Insists Only A Win Will Do Against Montenegro
31-year-old knows England and Bulgaria will be stiff competition...
By Alex Young
Wales captain Craig Bellamy has insisted that it is vital that his national side start their Euro 2012 qualification campaign with a win against Montenegro when the two face each other on evening.
Wales find themselves in a tough group, along with the likes of England, Bulgaria and Switzerland, so qualification will, no doubt, prove a tough task so Bellamy feels a positive start is a must.
"If either of us have got hopes of trying to do something in this group, tomorrow is vital.
"England - on paper - are superior to all of us but Switzerland were in the World Cup. Bulgaria are one of those teams you don't know what to expect from.
"I believe Wales, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Switzerland can really have an impact in this group.
"Everyone wants to get off to a good start. It isn't over for us if we don't but, realistically, I do believe the way the group is going to pan out we need to have a positive result.
"This is a big game for both of us - a lot rides on tomorrow."
Wales currently find themselves with their worst FIFA World Ranking for eight years, position 84, but with a youthful side continually gaining experience at this level the team can surely look up rather than down and qualification is a definitely possibility.
Bellamy said: "We have got some decent experience now and it is a good group of boys. We have been building a team.
"For myself I have been ready to try to qualify for some time.
"With the players we do have it is a good opportunity to try to take that next step."
