Standard Liege 3-3 Lokeren

Lokeren surprisingly raced to a two-goal lead thanks to both goals coming as Standard were temporarily down to ten men. A rasping Koen Persoons strike from a Katuku Tshimanga cutback set Lokeren on their way ten minutes before the break. The lead was doubled on 52 minutes when a volley from Persoons was helped into the net by young striker Nill De Pauw. Standard then produced the most astonishing three minute spell fifteen minutes later, prompted by a howler from Ivory Coast's number 1, Boubacar Copa. He rushed out of his box, failed to clear and Les Rouches captain Steven Defour dinked the ball over the 'keeper and in to the empty net. The hosts were now playing like men possessed and two goals in as many minutes came from Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez, the first after a mazy dribble and his second via a deflection off Mijat Maric. However there was one last sting in the tail in this thriller when Tshimanga poked home a Hassan El Mouataz cross with barely a minute remaining of normal time.

KAA Gent 2-1 Eupen

After being routed last week by Genk, yet more pressure was heaped upon Francky Dury's shoulders when newly-promoted Eupen took a shock lead halfway through the first period when Matthias Lepiller shot home after playing an excellent one-two with Jefferson. However De Buffalos managed a second-half turnaround, equalising thanks to Elimane Coulibaly's header after excellent play from Yassine El Ghanassy and then completing the comeback six minutes from the end when Randall Azofeifa's free kick was inadvertently diverted by Fazli Kocabas into his own goal .

RSC Anderlecht 4-0 Germinal Beerschot

Mbark Boussoufa
may be angling for a move to Stuttgart but he still had the commitment and the skill to send Paarswit into an early lead after five minutes with a free-kick. De Ratten suffered a further setback when promising young goalkeeper Tome Pacovski was stretchered off with a broken leg in two places after saving a Boussoufa shot. It is hoped that he makes a full recovery. RSCA had to wait until 20 minutes before time to double their lead through Matias Suarez who capitalised on some lax defending. Three minutes later substitute Tom De Sutter made an instant impact, superbly volleying home for the third. However, his evening was to end on a sour note as he picked up an ankle injury, which will keep him out of action for several months. Jan Polak then celebrated his decision to stay with the Belgian champions as he headed home a Boussoufa corner nine minutes from time.

Kortrijk 2-0 Sint-Truiden

There were few chances of note in the first period and all the action came after the resumption. De Kerels took the lead on 53 minutes when Sint-Truiden failed to clear their lines from a corner and Serbian midfielder Nebojsa Pavlovic stabbed the ball home. The points were secured from another set-piece just before the hour mark when Guiseppe Rossini headed home a free-kick at the near post.

KV Mechelen 1-0 Lierse SK

The hosts continued their 100% record so far this season as they dominated a largely uneventful game against newly-promoted Lierse. Ironically, it was a former Lierse player Yoni Buyens who settled the match on 64 minutes. His looped header over Eiji Kawashima from a Julien Gorius cross sparked a quite frantic goal celebration in which he proceeded to scissor kick the corner flag.

Westerlo 1-1 Zulte-Waregem

Both sides came into this encounter shorn of key players and neither manager will be too disgruntled with a point. Westerlo took the lead moments into the second half when Karel D'Haene tripped Liliu leaving referee Christof Dierick with no other option than to point to the spot. Steven De Petter stepped up and did not err from twelve yards. Essevee are a useful side who rarely let their heads drop and they salvaged a point with a minute left. New signings Habib Habibou and Jeremy Bokila combined with the latter keeping his cool to slide the ball past Yves De Winter.

KRC Genk 5-0 Charleroi

Genk threw down the gauntlet once more to the other title challengers as they romped to a 5-0 win over shellshocked Charleroi. Jelle Vossen gave Francky Vercauteren's side the lead after twelve minutes, assisted by Kevin De Bruyne. De Bruyne is much sought after and he then proceeded to take centre stage, scoring a first-half double. He blasted the ball home via the post to double Genk's lead before his cross towards Vossen had Cyprien Baguette in all kinds of trouble with the ball finding its way into the net. Israeli striker Elyaniv Barda made it 4-0 on the stroke of half-time after good link up play from Thomas Buffel. Barda completed his brace four minutes after the resumption. He slalomed his way through three defenders before beating Baguette.

Cercle Brugge 3-1 Club Brugge

An upbeat and industrious Cercle took a deserved lead in the ninth minute when Portuguese midfielder Neto rose highest from the corner to head Groen-Zwart into the lead. Club equalised ten minutes into the second half when William Owusu fatally miskicked inside his own box from a corner and Carl Hoefkens made him pay by firing home from close range. Card-happy referee Jerome Nzolo then lit the powder keg by brandishing a red card in the direction of Ivan Perisic for a second bookable offence when he harshly judged the Croatian to have dived in the box. That gave the impetus to Cercle and Frederic Boi drilled home after Jonathan Blondel lost possession. Cercle scored a third when Bernt Evens soared high in the air to head a Hans Cornelis free-kick past the helpless Stijn Stijnen though there was more than a hint of offside about the goal. Not even the introduction of enfant terrible Nabil Dirar could swing the game back to Blauw-Zwart and to rub salt into the wound, Dorge Kouemaha was sent off in stoppage time for a headbutt. The home side won't care a jot as they recorded their joint best derby win (with their 3-1 win in 1988) and took the city's bragging rights, at least until the next meeting in November.
