Stoke City have confirmed that defender Abdoulaye Faye will not be suspended for their Premier League game against Liverpool this Saturday, via the club's official website.

The Senegalese international was shown what appeared to be his fifth yellow card of the season during last month's 2-1 defeat by West Ham United, but it was in fact merely the defender's fourth.

The Football Association had become confused because there are two players at Stoke with the surname Faye. Amdy Faye had in actual fact been booked at Portsmouth, but the FA had recorded it as Abdoulaye's thrid booking of the season.

Following an enquiry and the submission of video evidence by Stoke City, the FA have now amended their records, which means that Abdoulaye is free to face the Reds, as he is now on four bookings. Amdy Faye now has two for the season.
