With an extra transfer day granted in light of the last day of August falling on Sunday, together with Hull City's embarrassing five-nil beating by Wigan Athletic, Hull City boss Phil Brown has moved to strengthen his backline by bringing in Paul McShane on a season loan.
"We were without three of our new signings on Saturday for various reasons," Brown told the club's official website. "That showed and we had to put a ‘Championship’ team out. That was exploited, not by the quality in front of goal, but by the lack of detail. That detail was something we were very good at last year," he said.
"But the Premier League punishes you and when you make a mistake, even if it’s only a slight one, it gets punished."
"Hopefully Paul McShane will bring that Premier League mentality with him," he concluded.
