The influential midfielder will be out of action for up to six weeks but he insists the problem is being handled well and will not affect him in the long term
The Germany international is currently out of action due to a kneecap problem and will consequently miss Bayern's Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg this weekend.
However, Schweinsteiger has stressed that the problem is being handled well and he expects to be fully recovered again within the club's previously-expected time of five to six weeks.
"People should not be worried about me. I have had problems with my left knee since January. But I know how to deal with it and I'm in good hands with Dr. [Hans-Wilhelm] Muller-Wohlfahrt," Schweinsteiger told Bild.
"We are currently treating the cause of the problem and I should be able to play without pain again after that.
"I know that everything will be fine again, but there's no exact schedule of when I want to make my comeback. We will see how the knee reacts. What matters is that I completely recover.
"I am currently training individually in the fitness centre, without putting too much pressure on my knee."
The 30-year-old made only 23 Bundesliga appearances last term due to fitness issues, scoring four goals in the process.
