The club captain has defended his head coach in the wake of recent criticism and feels the 43-year-old's tactics make football "fun"Philipp Lahm has insisted Pep Guardiola is still the right man for Bayern Munich, claiming the Catalan's style is perfectly suited to the club.
The former Barcelona coach received his fair share of criticism in the wake of Bayern's Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid and doubts emerged over whether Guardiola's philosophy was right for the Bavarians.
Lahm, however, says Guardiola's system makes football "fun" and maintains the 43-year-old is a perfect match for the club.
"If we would just sit back, defend and try to hit our opponents on the counterattack, Guardiola would not have been the right coach for us," Lahm told Suddeutschen Zeitung.
"But I feel that his philosophy and tactical ideas suit this team and a club like Bayern perfectly.
"Football's fun when you don't allow your opponent any time to breathe or have possession, while having 100 touches of the ball and passes yourself.
"Bayern are not a team that can play on the counterattack. We should do the exact opposite and always play our own game. This formation and style is ideal, but you have to do it 100 per cent right."
Bayern are currently preparing for Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund as they aim for another domestic double after sealing the Bundesliga title in March.
