The Bayern defender is excited by the prospect of lifting the Bundesliga title in the city of his birth if the Bavarians emerge victorious on Tuesday
Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng has revealed his excitement at the possibility of retaining the league title in the city he grew up in ahead of Tuesday's clash with Hertha Berlin.
The 25-year-old, who is in his third season with Bayern, lived just a short distance from the Olympic Stadium as a child and could seal the Bundesliga title with victory in his home city.
“I’m a Berlin boy,” said Boateng to the club’s official website. “But it would be very special if we could seal the championship at the stadium where I played my first Bundesliga match.”
However, the Germany international is not taking anything for granted despite the fact Hertha sit eight places and 38 points behind the Bavarians in the table ahead of the game.
“I’ve swapped a few text messages with Sami [Allagui]. Berlin are looking forward to it and intend to trip us up."
