Schweinsteiger: 'Incredible' Guardiola making Bayern even better

The midfielder has hailed the Spaniard's coaching ideas and communication skills, while at the same time revealing he believes the Bavarians can win the Champions League again
Bastian Schweinsteiger has issued a stark warning to Bayern Munich's rivals, declaring that the reigning European champions are only going to get better under the "incredible" Pep Guardiola.

The Bavarians won a historic treble last season and many pundits wondered if it would be really possible for the former Barcelona boss to make any improvements to such a dominant force.

However, Schweinsteiger explains that Guardiola has added a new dimension to Bayern's play since replacing Jupp Heynckes at the helm last summer.

"The coach has an incredible feel for the players and incredible ideas, and he tries to introduce them in such a way that suits us," the Germany international told his club's official website.

"We will continue to develop."

Indeed, Schweinsteiger believes that Bayern could very well become the first club to successfully defend the European Cup since AC Milan in 1990.

"To win the Champions League twice in a row - that's my big goal," the midfielder admitted. "This will not be easy, of course - we know that. But if we all pull together again, it is possible."

For now, though, Schweinsteiger's primary concern is making a full recovery from the ankle injury that has sidelined him since the start of November.

However, the 29-year-old, who returned to training during Bayern's winter break to Doha, insists that he will not run the risk of doing further damage to himself by rushing his return to competitive action.

"It's nice to be with the team again and to be able to join in exercises," he admitted.

"It is, of course, much more fun to rain with the ball and your team-mates than to train than without the ball and alone.

"But I'm not yet at where I want to be. I need to feel even better. I will continue to join in as much as possible but I will see how I feel and what is right for me.

"I will take it step by step. This does not happen overnight."
