thumbnail Hello,

The attacking midfielder is in a bullish frame of mind ahead of his side's must-win meeting with the Swiss champions at the Veltins-Arena

Julian Draxler is confident that Schalke have what it takes to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League at the expense of Basel, claiming Jens Keller's men are capable of beating anyone on their day.

The Bundesliga side currently sit third in their Group, trailing the Swiss side by one point, and will only reach the round of 16 with a win at the Veltins-Arena.

Draxler, though, is in a bullish frame of mind ahead of the visit of a side who beat pool winners Chelsea home and away, primarily because he netted the only goal of the game when they travelled to St. Jakob Park on matchday two.

"We already showed in the first match against Basel that we're able to beat any team," the 20-year-old was quoted as saying by Kicker.

"We're confident that we will succeed. We have the chance to make it to the next round and are determined to progress."

The Germany international admitted, though, that Schalke have performed only in fits and starts so far this season.

"For years now we've not been able to play consistently," he conceded. "We've often showed we can play well, but just in that moment that we try to make the next step, a backlash comes. This is frustrating."
