The Borussia Monchengladbach legend feels that the 46-year-old is so passionate about the game that he would struggle to deal with having so few matches to be involved with

Gunter Netzer believes the idea of Jurgen Klopp coaching Germany is "inconceivable" because the Borussia Dortmund boss would miss regular football too much.

The 46-year-old coach this week signed a contract extension with die Schwarzgelben that will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until at least 2016.

Given his success with Dortmund, Kloop has been mooted as a future national team boss, but Borussia Monchengladbach legend Netzer feels he is unsuited to the irregular pattern of the international arena.

"The prospect of Klopp coaching his country has now been ruled out for a few years at least," the former Real Madrid playmaker wrote in Bild. "But I also do not see him currently as our head coach anyway.

"If you look at how he lives out his passion every day, enjoying his team's performances so much because he lives football, then is inconceivable for the foreseeable future to see him in the national team, with just one game a month.

"He needs to be close to the action, to have daily contact with the players. He needs this intensity.

"The Borussia job still offers him so many things that he would be unwilling to give up now.

"The question of him taking over will not arise either, because we have a first-class coach [Joachim Low] as it is."

Klopp took charge of Dortmund in 2008 and has led the club to two Bundesliga titles, as well as a DFB-Pokal.
