The BVB general manager is thrilled with the 22-year-old's pre-season exploits after his stunning winner on SundayBorussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has branded match-winner Jonas Hofmann "outstanding" following his goal in the 1-0 win over Hamburg on Sunday.
BVB were beaten 1-0 by Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday in the pre-season tournament Telekom Cup semi-final stage but were able to triumph in the third-place play-off to salvage some pride.
Hofmann, 21, found a pocket of space after a storming run into the box on 24 minutes and slammed a shot into the top corner for what proved to be the first and only goal of the 60-minute match.
"He took his goal with class," Dortmund general manager Zorc told Sat1. "He has made an outstanding impression in pre-season so far. It was right to pull him up to the first team squad."
Hofmann joined the club in 2011 from Hoffenheim but has been confined largely to the reserves, with his first-team debut coming in April last season against Augsburg.
