Schnoor: Wolfsburg are up against it

The former Wolfe skipper has said the team will have a hard task on their hands overcoming Bayern Munich to reach the DFB-Pokal final

Former Wolfsburg captain Stefan Schnoor believes his old club faces an uphill battle to win their German Cup semi-final with Bayern Munich.

Bayern have already won the Bundesliga and will play Barcelona in the last four of the Champions League while Die Wolfe are currently 13th in the league.

“We've already seen during the whole season that Bayern has not permitted at any time, any weakness,” he told TZ.

“Jupp Heynckes is, for me, the main reason for the dominance of Bayern, he has a sensational squad and has used squad rotation almost perfectly.

“The question is what can [Wolfsburg coach] Dieter Hecking do to win the match? It is clear that healthy aggression is important to be sure.

"Bayern have shown, among other things, against Juventus that they can handle themselves.

“And should Wolfsburg play too aggressively and after 10 minutes of play be down to 10 men, it is already almost impossible to go play and win.”

Schnoor added that confidence is low in the Wolfsburg camp after a disappointing season, however Hecking, who took over as coach in December last year, needs to be given time to succeed.

“In addition to the mediocre season is low confidence in the squad. Wolfsburg are currently nibbling on the failings of the past years, the new personnel need a little more time to implement their concepts and ideas.”
