The Bundesliga leaders moved one step closer to the title after a comprehensive win over the 10-man visitors, and Heynckes was happy that the players did not allow their momentum to drop following their midweek Champions League win over Arsenal.
"The team needed something to find their rhythm and, with the two goals, we had a cushion," Heynckes told reporters. "Then came the red card and, against 10 men, we were able to pass the ball around easily.
"The team did well and scored good goals. We wanted to keep up our momentum and not be swayed by any premature praise. We want to play even better than before and be more successful."
Meanwhile, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was thrilled with the performance following a number of changes to the side which triumphed 3-1 at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, stressing that regaining the league title is the priority for die Roten.
"It was a very good game," he was quoted as saying on the club's official website. "We were very focused. The coach rotated things a lot, but we have seen that those who come in are very focused and motivated. It was no different to in London.
"We want to become German champions. That is the most important title and we are on the right track."
