The sporting director of the Germany national team believes the Bayer Leverkusen forward has the ability to represent die mannschaft at next summer's tournament in Brazil
Kiessling has six caps for the national team but the 29-year-old is behind the likes of Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose in the pecking order.
"Stefan is one of the top strikers in the Bundesliga. In a World Cup year you can always take him to ensure he gains the experience," he told Sport1.
Dutt went on to say Kiessling may suffer when it comes to international selection because he is a similar type of player to his rivals.
“When you have a 4-2-3-1 formation and call up Kiessling alongside Klose and Gomez, they all need their playing time and will all end up unhappy.”
The former Nurnberg player has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen this season scoring 16 goals.
