Carvajal: Bundesliga much faster than La Liga

The Spain Under-21 international says the "rhythm" of the game is far different in Germany than his homeland, but says he is enjoying the challenge nonetheless

Bayer Leverkusen defender Daniel Carvajal believes the Bundesliga is far faster than La Liga, but insists he is settled in Germany.

The 21-year-old joined the Werkself from Real Madrid at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, and he is pleased with the way he has adapted to his new surroundings.

"The rhythm of the game is different here. In Germany it's a lot faster, whereas in Spain the tempo is slower and more about possession," the right-back told the official Bundesliga website.

"The longer I'm here the more settled and at ease I feel."

Carvajal has developed into a key player at Leverkusen since his summer move, and he has no regrets over his move to the Bundesliga.

"Leverkusen showed a lot of interest in me. They told me I’d play in the first team and that I was their first choice.

"I think I made the right decision. We're second in the table, we're doing well in the Europa League and I'm playing a lot, which is what I need to keep developing as a player."

The defender has made 17 Bundesliga appearances so far.
