Diego calls for Wolfsburg improvement
The former Porto playmaker wants the club to become consistent in winning matches so that they can rise up the table, though he is not thinking about his own future at present
Wolfsburg midfielder Diego believes the club need to take "the second step" as they aim to make their way up the Bundesliga table.Die Wolfe currently sit 13th in the German top flight after an inconsistent season, and the Brazil international says that they need to go on a run of good results if they harbour ambitions of grabbing a European spot.
The 27-year-old scored in the 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the first match after the winter break, but Dieter Hecking's outfit could not follow that result with another win as they were beaten 2-1 by Hannover, and the former Juventus playmaker is frustrated by the lack of consistency.
"It is very disappointing when you see that you are not improving in the table," he told Wolfsburger Allgemeine.
"We again had the chance after a home win. But again with the important second step we failed."
Diego is out of contract in June 2014 and it has been reported that the club will look to sell at the end of the current season if he doesn't sign a new deal, but the player himself revealed that he was not thinking about his future at the current time.
He added: "I'm feeling good at the moment and for me it is a non-issue."
