The Switzerland international joined Bayern from Basel in the summer transfer window, but faces stiff competition from the likes of Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery for a place in the starting XI.
"I want to become a key figure at the club and win lots of trophies. I'll work hard for that, and I think I'm on the right track," Shaqiri was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"My goal for the rest of the season is even more playing time, although I know we have a very strong squad. Superb players sometimes drop to the bench.
"And when I do play, for five, 20 or 90 minutes, I give it everything. The coach needs to know he can count on me, because that's the only way to go."
The 21-year-old has made 12 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, scoring once in the process.
