Diego wants new Wolfsburg contract
The Brazilian playmaker is hoping for a fresh deal with die Wolfe providing the campaign is a successful one, whilst he dedicated the Hoffenheim win to their new sporting director
Wolfsburg midfielder Diego is looking to land himself a new contract with the club.
The Brazilian's current deal ends in June 2014 and has admitted he is hoping to sign an extension at the Volkswagen Arena, despite reported interest from Atletico Madrid who he went on loan to last season.
Speaking after the 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Sunday, Diego said to reporters:
"Yes, I am working towards it [the contract extension].
"First of all, we have to make sure that we are successful in the current season, but if we reach our goals, the future will be good as well."
Diego, who moved from Juventus to the Bundesliga club in 2010 for a club record of €15.5 million, also dedicated the victory to die Wolfe’s new sporting director Klaus Allofs.
He added: "I am very happy for Klaus, that we were able to start [his tenure] by getting the three points."
Wolfsburg are currently without a manager having sacked Felix Magath at the end of last month, with Lorenz-Gunther Kostner taking over in a caretaker role.
