Eriksson could coach 1860 Munich, says close friend Iraki
It has been revealed that the former England and Lazio trainer's next journey could see him travel to Germany to take charge of Bayern's most fierce local rivals
Sven-Goran Eriksson could soon be appointed coach of second-division team 1860 Munich, his close friend Hamada Iraki has revealed. The Palestinian banker helped Hasan Abdullah Mohamed Ismaik acquire a significant portion of the club back in 2011, and has stated that the Swede could arrive at the Allianz Arena in the foreseeable future.
"I do not exclude that Eriksson will become the 1860 trainer," Iraki told Bild.
Eriksson was spotted in the stands during die Lowen 0-2 loss to Koln on Friday, which fuelled speculation that he may take charge of the club after coach Reiner Maurer was dismissed.
"Eriksson is a good friend of Iraki. He was in Munich and took the opportunity to watch the game," stated 1860 director Robert Schafer.
The Munich club find themselves in eighth place in 2.Bundesliga after 14 games.
