The ex-Chelsea man was detected driving 211 kilometres per hour on the A5 motorway in Trujillo - well over the local speed limit.
He initially faced a two-year driving ban in addition to a €10,000 fine, but lawyer Jesus Gallego Rol has asked the judge to reduce that figure to accommodate the defendant's lack of cash-flow.
