Huntelaar puts Schalke talks on hold
The prolific attacker will not pen a contract extension with the Konigsblauen any time soon as negotiations have been re-scheduled
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has decided to put contract talks with Schalke on hold until December as he is not ready yet to make a decision on his future. The Netherlands international's current deal is due to expire at the end of the 2012-13 campaign, and the Bundesliga side are desperate to hold on to their star striker.
However, Huntelaar is reluctant to commit himself to the Gelsenkirchen side at this point.
"We have made the decision not to hold any talks until December and wait how things develop. That's what the player wants and I can live with that," general manager Horst Heldt told Sport1.
"I have the feeling that Klaas-Jan is not ready to make a decision on his future at the moment. We want to give him the time he needs to make a well-thought decision.
"My goal is to convince him to stay with Schalke. We will re-open talks either in December or January. I demand a quick decision at that point, though."
Huntelaar, 29, has scored five goals in 10 official appearances for Schalke this term.
