The 23-year-old explains last season's taunting of the Dutch maestro after the Bayern Munich winger's decisive spot kick was saved in their Bundesliga showdown
Neven Subotic has claimed his mocking of Arjen Robben’s decisive penalty miss in Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Bayern Munich last campaign was down to a rush of blood rather than any malice towards the Holland international.
Subotic immediately confronted Robben to taunt him after his 84th minute penalty was saved in April.
Dortmund held on the game to win 1-0 and eventually become Bundesliga champions and nearly six months on, the Serbian defender attributes his action to an adrenaline rush over any dislike of Robben personally.
"On the one hand, people say 'Ey, Neven, you're so stupid, why are you doing this?' On the other hand, I know that it was an instinct,” said Subotic.
"It was not something I thought about [at the time]. Your pulse races at 200 on the pitch, it's best not try and explain everything [you do]."
Dortmund entertain Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday whilst Bayern travel to Werder Bremen the same day with the two teams meeting again on December 1 at Allianz Arena.
