Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp took a lot of pleasure from his club's 3-0 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen.
The 45-year-old was delighted with the result, but suggested that the performance was even more encouraging.
With Mats Hummels, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski finding the net for Dortmund in front of 80,645 spectators, it would seem that the team was working well in all areas of the pitch.
“Today we played really well,” Klopp told reporters. “It was a great performance by my team. For the first time this season, we brought our game,” he added.
Among the fans was German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Klopp was quick to offer her a place in the stands whenever she liked. “If she likes, she can come and watch every fortnight,” he quipped.
It is all smiles for BVB and their coach after today’s game against a Bayer Leverkusen side that manager Sascha Lewandowski described as “entirely passive”. They now sit fourth in the table after three games.
