MAINZ
0 1 GREUTHER FURTH
Greuther Furth got their first win of their debut Bundesliga season with a slender 1-0 triumph away at Mainz on Friday.

The Bavarian minnows were comprehensively beaten by Bayern Munich on matchday one, but missed an early chance to take the lead when Djiby Fall sent an easy shot wide from inside the box. At the other end, Maxim Choupo-Moting rounded Max Grun, but failed to tap the ball into the empty goal, shooting into the side-netting instead.

And they were made to pay for their wastefulness when Felix Klaus lifted an excellent shot over Christian Wetklo and into the right-hand corner of the goal. And the 19-year-old's strike proved enough to secure an excellent three-point haul for the visitors.

HOFFENHEIM
0 4 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
Hoffenheim's nightmare start to the season continued as they slipped to a heavy 4-0 home loss to newly promoted Eintracht Frankfurt.

After a goalless opening 40 minutes, the visitors found themselves ahead in fortuitous fashion when a Marvin Copper deflection took Alexander Meier's shot past the wrong-footed Tim Wiese. Seconds later it was two as Pirmin Schwegler lined up an effort from 35 yards that flew into the top corner.

Stephan Schrock received his marching orders for a second booking on 74 minutes, and it appeared as though the two goals would be enough for Frankfurt to cruise to victory, only for Meier to add a third from the penalty spot after Bastian Oczipka had been felled in the box. Martin Lanig rose from the bench and added a fourth by heading home Oczipka's cross.
SCHALKE
3 1 AUGSBURG
After a disappointing 2-2 draw with Hannover on the opening weekend of the season, Schalke got their campaign rolling with a 3-1 victory over Augsburg at the Veltins Arena.

Jefferson Farfan squandered an early chance to put the hosts in front, but it was to matter little when Kyriakos Papadopoulos headed the Peruvian's corner into the far corner. Just after the break Jermaine Jones went on a long, winding run from the centre of the park before finishing emphatically to put his side into a two-goal lead.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar added a third with an header that crept over Simon Jentzsch's line, meaning that Torsten Oehrl's tap-in was nothing more than a mere consolation.
LEVERKUSEN
2 0 FREIBURG
Bayer Leverkusen got their first win of the Bundesliga season with a 2-0 win over Freiburg at the BayArena.

The hosts had crashed to an embarrassing defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, but almost rocketed into a lead when Andre Schurrle took Stefan Kiessling's through ball around Oliver Baumann, only to see his effort cleared on the line by Fallou Diagne.

However, they did not have to wait long for the opener as Kiessling's header was parried into Gonzalo Castro's path by Baumann, giving the 25-year-old a tap-in after just eight minutes of play.

Sami Hyypia's men cruised through much of the remainder of the match, but killed off the encounter when Philipp Wollscheid headed home Castro's corner to make it 2-0, and ensure a three-point gain.
WERDER BREMEN
2 0 HAMBURG
Werder Bremen recovered from their opening day loss to Borussia Dortmund to record a 2-0 victory over local rivals Hamburg.

Nils Petersen came within inches of giving the hosts an early lead when his header bounced off the underside of the bar and the post, before Rene Adler eventually gathered the ball. At the other end, Artjoms Rudnevs almost capitalised on some slack defending, but could only send an effort wide of Sebastian Mielitz's goal.

Both sides had further half chances to take the lead, but the best fell to the hosts when Eljero Elia was felled in the area by Jeffrey Bruma, but Adler produced a fine stop to deny Aaron Hunt from the spot.

However, they did not live to regret the miss as Dennis Aogo tripped Petersen soon after to give the hosts another penalty, and this time Hunt managed to keep his cool to give his side the lead, and Petersen made the points safe with a slick finish 23 minutes from time.
FORTUNA DUSSELDORF
0 0 MONCHENGLADBACH
Borussia Monchengladbach failed to put their Champions League heartbreak behind them when they made the short trip Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday evening.

Axel Bellinghausen had a great chance to put the hosts in front after 23 minutes, but squandered the opportunity, before Luuk de Jong's frustrating start to life at Borussia Park continued when Fabian Giefer saved the Dutchman's volley.

After the break, Johannes van den Bergh produced a decent cross, but Adam Bodzek could not quite manage to reach the ball, and Dani Schahin squandered one final chance to grab all three points 12 minutes from time with a header.

In the end, neither side were able to conjure up that bit of magic to steal a victory, ensuring a 0-0 stalemate at full-time.
WOLFSBURG
0 4 HANNOVER
In the first of Sunday's fixtures, Hannover handed Wolfsburg a 4-0 drubbing at the Volkswagen Arena in yet another local derby.

Karim Haggui got the ball rolling by heading home a Szabolcs Huszti corner after just 10 minutes, the Hungarian recorded his second assist a quarter of an hour later when he set up Artur Sobiech for a tap-in to send the visitors into an already-commanding 2-0 lead.

The one-way traffic was unrelenting in the second half, and Leon Andreasen nodded his side in front, with Huszti once again providing the telling delivery, and three minutes later it was four when Sobiech headed another Huszti cross into the back of the net.

Insult was added to injury for Wolfsburg soon after when Robin Knoche received a second yellow card, and Mirko Slomka's men were allowed to cruise for an easy victory.
