Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has described his side as "confident and smart" following their 3-0 victory over Greuther Furth on Saturday.
The Bundesliga giants registered an easy win at Trolli Arena, as a first-half Thomas Muller strike was added upon by debutant Mario Mandzukic and an own goal by Thomas Kleine in the second half.
Following the final whistle, the 67-year-old was quick to lavish praise on his players, telling Bayern's official website: "We have played confident, smart and very clever football.
"We started slowly, but that of course is normal [so early on in the season]. To play against a newly-promoted side is not simple. But after we scored, we dictated the rhythm of the game and won deservedly.
“We have high expectations of this season; the team are highly motivated. We have worked very well, so the result is not a surprise for me today.”
Goalscorer Muller echoed his coach's sentiments, but had words of congratulation for the opposition: “The first half was tough, as expected.
"Greuther Furth sit deep, and that caused us problems. After we went into the lead, the game went well. We are happy that we won our first game.”
Philipp Lahm, who was Goal.com's 'Top of the Match', too was keen to compliment his team-mates, but also had a word to say on the temperature during the game.
“We can be very satisfied: 3-0 away from home is a very, very good start. It was very hot today, especially in the first half; it's not easy to play football in those conditions.
“I think that we are very neat in possession. Of course there is still a lot of room for improvement. It is important that we go forward with a positive attitude.”
