Huntelaar: I can score 29 goals again
The Netherlands international is hopeful of replicating last year's performances, while general manager Horst Heldt has set his sights on winning a trophy this term
Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is brimming with confidence ahead of the start of the 2012-13 Bundesliga campaign, and is determined to prove head coach Huub Stevens wrong. The Dutch trainer recently stressed that the fans cannot expect Huntelaar to repeat last year's 29-goal haul in the upcoming season, but the former Real Madrid striker is at odds with that view.
"Scoring 29 goals once more is definitely possible," Huntelaar was quoted as saying by Bild.
"We did an excellent job in our home games last season. All we have to do now is make sure that we improve in away matches."
Meanwhile, general manager Horst Heldt is aiming high and is dreaming of winning silverware with the Gelsenkirchen club.
"It will be a good season for us if we finish in the top four. I know it will be very difficult, though," he said.
"In general, it is our objective to fight for a trophy. Why would we not be able to reach the DFB-Pokal final? A trophy is a realistic goal."
Schalke are currently preparing for their Bundesliga opener away against Hannover on Sunday.
