Holtby reveals Premier League 'goal'
By Francois Duchateau and Robert Bobbe
Jul 24, 2012 10:55:00 PM
The German midfielder only has a year left on his contract with Schalke and has reportedly attracted the interest of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
Lewis Holtby insists he is happy at Schalke, but freely admits that one of his career goals is to ply his trade in the Premier League. The Germany international, who will be a free agent next summer, has recently been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool amongst other clubs.
But while the 21-year-old claims he has no interest in leaving Gelsenkirchen just yet, he would love to test himself in England one day.
"The Premier League is a goal at some point," Holtby told Goal.com after Schalke's 1-0 friendly defeat to AC Milan on Tuesday evening.
"As a footballer, you want to improve always, and in football everything is possible.
"But I'm comfortable at Schalke. My contract runs until 2013 - my agent looks after everything else."
Holtby, who has already been capped twice by his country, joined Schalke from Alemannia Aachen three years ago.
