German side's manager admits that a lot of clubs are chasing the Ivorian forward but thinks that his team are in the driving seat because the winger wants to move abroad
It is thought that Kalou would prefer a move away from England and Stevens still believes Schalke are favourites for his signature. However, the Dutch boss has made it known that the Merseysiders are interested – something which Goal.com revealed exclusively nearly two months ago.
"Kalou is a bosman player this summer. It’s obvious," he told the Daily Mirror. "There are many other clubs keen on him. Liverpool, for example.
"But I know for sure he wants to move away from England. This could be our chance."
The 26-year-old featured increasingly towards the end of the season, as Chelsea completed an FA Cup and Champions League double under caretaker boss Roberto Di Matteo.
However, the Blues decided not to renew his contract and the Ivory Coast international is free to join another club after his contract finished last month.
New manager Brendan Rodgers feels that the winger could fill the gap on the right side of Liverpool's midfield following the departure of Dirk Kuyt to Fenerbache.
