The Paraguay international was expected to leave the Westfalenstadion during the January transfer window but a proposed move to Fulham collapsed at the 11th hourLucas Barrios will reportedly earn nearly three times as much money at new club Guangzhou Evergrande as he does with current employers Borussia Dortmund.
It was claimed on Thursday that the Paraguay international will move to China at the end of the season, having allegedly signed a four-year contract with the Super League outfit, who have reportedly agreed to meet the player's €12 million release clause.
Bild has now revealed that Barrios will earn €6.7m per season, which would constitute a massive pay rise given the forward is currently on €2.5m a year at the Westfalenstadion.
Barrios, for his part, insists that with Dortmund currently bidding to retain their Bundesliga title, money is the last thing on his mind: "Until the end of the season, I am concentrating only on Borussia."
Meanwhile, the German champions have, according to Sport-Bild, identified Wolfsburg's Sebastian Polter as a potential replacement. The 20-year-old striker is under contract until 2014 but is said to be unhappy with his club's unwillingness to give him a pay rise.
