Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes criticises Manuel Neuer after loss to Borussia Monchengladbach

The former Bayer Leverkusen man had some harsh words for his summer signing after the Germany international had a bad day at the office versus Lucien Favre's men

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has criticised Manuel Neuer for the goalkeeper's role in the 3-1 Bundesliga defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.

The 25-year-old inexplicably passed the ball to Marco Reus in the 11th minute, leaving the soon-to-be Borussia Dortmund playmaker with the easy task of tapping the ball into an empty net to give his side the lead.

Coincidentally, Neuer was at fault for Bayern losing 1-0 to Gladbach in the opening game of the season and his coach believes his keeper needs to concentrate more.

"That's Neuer's problem, he wants to make the game too fast. He needs to play more calmly and be more focused. That was the invitation to defeat," the veteran trainer told Hamburger Abendblatt.

Despite the harsh words directed at the Germany international, Heynckes was full of praise for Friday evening's opponents.

"What Borussia [Monchengladbach] have done so far is phenomenal. They will play in Europe next season," he added.

Next up for Bayern is a home encounter against Wolfsburg on January 28.
